Air Cadets Aiming High

The Droitwich Squadron of the Air Cadets Corps have launched a campaign to raise funds to pay for a new minibus.
The unit, which was formed in 1971, are struggling to keep their existing vehicle on the road due to the high maintenance costs of their current bus which is almost 10 years old.
The Squadron's civilian committee, chaired by Lisa Handley is aiming to raise £10000 to pay for a refurbished vehicle and they are organising a number of events and socials to help them reach their target.
Dave Jepson, Welfare Chairman of Droitwich Lions Club heard about the cadets' efforts and as a result, the Lions have pledged a contribution to the fund which Lisa hopes will reach its target by the end of the year.
Paul Wilde, the Officer Commanding the Droitwich Squadron commented "We have a very healthy membership of more than 35 young people drawn from the Droitwich and Bromsgrove areas and our minibus is vital in getting members to functions, camps and other activities. We appreciate the interest which the Droitwich Lions have taken in us and hope that this will encourage other organisations to support us."
The photograph shows members of the Lions together with some of the cadets with their old minibus.
